Category Image Political Unrest in China: China's Muslim Problem

If anyone thinks that opening trade with China in the 1970s and sending our industrial base to them since has moderated their godless communist system of government is mistaken. China is still red. It might look capitalist on the outside, but on the inside it still is a repressive, authoritarian, if not totalitarian regime.

By sending our national fortunes to China via our large trade deficits, our corporations and even individual Americans enable the repressive and undemocratic actions of Beijing. Is it really worth our souls to have sneakers a few dollars cheaper?

Maybe instead of sending our dollars to China, our government out to be funding and arming the Uighurs and the Tibetans. The Chinese our still our enemy and we ought to start acting like it.

From the Voice of America:

This week, Chinese authorities sentenced several members of the ethnic Uighur people in the western province of Xinjiang province to death for separatist and terrorist activities.China-Xinjiang.png

China says it has sentenced to death five ethnic Uighur Muslims from the country's restive far western region, who were convicted of separatist activities.

The official Xinhua news agency said Sunday that the Intermediate Court in Kashgar, in the province of Xinjiang, sentenced a sixth man to life in prison.

The agency said of the five men who were sentenced to death, two had their sentences suspended for two years.  That means the death sentence will be commuted to life in jail if the prisoners show good behavior and remorse for two years.

Chinese authorities say the six ethnic Uighur Muslims were members of a terrorist organization.

China has cracked down hard on Uighurs, whom it accuses of trying to set up an independent state in Xinjiang.
