On Immigration Reform
Those of us at The Virtuous Republic have given the Bush-Kennedy immigration reform bill much consideration. Our reaction has swayed between hysterical outright reaction to a grudging acceptance throughout the week. At some point though, one must take a position, make a stand. As it is currently written, the Bush-Kennedy Immigration Reform Act, in our view, undermines our nation interest. There are some parts of the bill that we actually like, but we are unable to stomach the amnesty given to 12 million illegal invaders.
Let's get something straight to start with. Every Mexican and South American who entered our nation without proper documentation is a criminal. They have broken our law with the very first step they took onto our soil. I don't care if they are the tired, the poor, or the huddled masses. They became criminals the moment they came here illegally. Do we want criminals as citizens?
Next, do most illegals pay income taxes, city taxes, property taxes, state taxes, social security taxes, or medicare taxes? If they don't have social security numbers, that means they are being paid in cash. You dear citizen are paying taxes. They are not. That in of itself is a criminal act.
No republic can stand when it allows hordes of peoples to migrate over its borders illegally. Look what happened to Rome when Germanic and eastern tribes flooded Roman territory. In essence we have witnessed an invasion of the United States by at least 12 million Mexicans. Simply put, can you live with the Mexifaction of the United States?
Another point to consider. What is the education level of these 12 million illegal invaders? Do you really think they college educations? Do you even think they finished high school? What was the quality of the education? Remember, Mexico is a third world country.
How much pollution do you think 12 million illegal invaders add to our country's skies? How many cars do they add to our roads?
Do they have car insurance? What happens when an illegal immigrant hits your car? Do you really think they have car insurance, like you are required by law to have?
What is the health of these illegal invaders? What diseases do they bring? Does Mexico require the same levels of immunization that the United States does? Do you really think a third world nation like Mexico provides the same level of immunization that the world's wealthiest nation does?
That is why we oppose the bill. The Z-Card section of the bill is de facto amnesty. We have heard from President Bush and others that deporting the 12 million criminal invaders is impossible. Really? Have we tried? Should we try? Of course. We don't need 12 million criminals, 12 million invaders in this nation. They are a burden on our medical and welfare system. They don't pay taxes and they bring with them all of the ills that plague the third world nation of Mexico. Plus, did you know that not only would the 12 million invaders receive amnesty from criminally entering the United States, they would not have to pay back taxes. Have you ever had your back taxes forgiven? So for illegal invaders, the rule of law is suspended?
The only thing we like about the bill is the guest worker program. Such a program, we believe would go a long way to eliminating illegal entrance into this nation.
Plus, anything Ted Kennedy touches, in our opinion, is suspect.
To President Bush, how many times will you sell the conservative base down the river? You've done it on judicial appointments. You mismanaged the Iraq war and it is only our patriotism the provides you support. And now you want to give 12 million illegals amnesty?
We at The Virtuous Republic are at the end our patience with George Bush. He has turned his back, along with the RINO's in the Senate, on patriotic Americans one too many times. Maybe it is time for conservatives to reconsider our support for the war. Maybe it is time to find a new home in a new party.
