I've argued over and over again, that the left has abandoned the nation-state.  It views the terrorist and the dictator, the communist and the Islamist as heroes.  They see these forces as the underdog, opposing Western values and imperialism.  Of course to those who still subscribe to tradition of Western ration thought, the very groups that the left idolize so much, want to destroy the West, but the left blindly, naively, ignores this.

Another example of this characteristic of the left is a recent poll taken among Britons regarding their sailors held by Iran.  Forty-eight percent of those interviewed said military force should never be used at all to rescue their people.

Most Britons oppose immediate military action to free 15 navy personnel detained in Iran, and believe the government will resolve the crisis peacefully, a poll released Saturday suggests.

Only 8 percent of respondents to the survey for the Sunday Telegraph newspaper said Britain should prepare to use military force at this stage, nine days into the crisis. Asked if force should be used as a last resort, 48 percent were opposed and 44 percent in favor.
