Barack Obama Confused: His Latest Speech on Torture and Terrorism
Barack Obama gave a major speech on foreign policy today. We in Hell found three snort worthy parts in said speech.
In the past, Satan has noted how the Democrats have called the Iraq War, the wrong war and how they are hellbent on retreating from a country where U.S. forces outclass our enemies and where the terrain is mostly open (the whole desert landscape, excepting the Kurdish north, where things are quiet anyway) and favors the American military.
Yet for all his criticisms of Bush's invasion of Iraq, which according to Obama causes the creation of more terrorists. He may have wrapped his pretty words in the shroud of a statesmen, by the message is the same old liberal saw, blame America first, blame America again:
Obama goes on to say, that he wants to make the world like us more and goes down a laundry list of programs to buy the "love" of our enemies. This sort of reminds Satan of the Roman Empire during the end years, where gold was offered to the barbarians to gain their indulgence. Rome still fell. We in Hell still subscribe to the adage that our friends will always be our friends, but that in the long run some people will just not like you. And on the stage of world affairs, it is better that any effort towards this group be put in making them fear the United States than trying to buy their affections.
And worse -- he is fighting the war the terrorists want us to fight. Bin Ladin and his allies know they cannot defeat us on the field of battle or in a genuine battle of ideas. But they can provoke the reaction we've seen in Iraq: a misguided invasion of a Muslim country that sparks new insurgencies, ties down our military, busts our budgets, increases the pool of terrorist recruits, alienates America, gives democracy a bad name, and prompts the American people to question our engagement in the world.
I understand that President Musharraf has his own challenges. But let me make this clear. There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans. They are plotting to strike again. It was a terrible mistake to fail to act when we had a chance to take out an al Qaeda leadership meeting in 2005. If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will.
And Pakistan needs more than F-16s to combat extremism. As the Pakistani government increases investment in secular education to counter radical madrasas, my Administration will increase America's commitment. We must help Pakistan invest in the provinces along the Afghan border, so that the extremists' program of hate is met with one of hope. And we must not turn a blind eye to elections that are neither free nor fair -- our goal is not simply an ally in Pakistan, it is a democratic ally.
If the invasion of Iraq, according to the left, has increased the ranks of the jihadists, what would happen if the United States launched an attack against Pakistan? Pakistan is a large nation of 165 million people. If the left's theory of increasing the ranks of the jihadists is accurate, how many hopping mad, virgin lusting, splodeydopes would be created by invading the home of radical Islam itself?
Not to mention, as Barack points out in this speech, western Pakistan is mountainous, rugged, and lawless. Iraq offers little physical geographical advantage for our enemies, but Pakistan, with a jihadist sympathetic culture and a typography that works against any invading force would truly bog down our armed forces. And unlike Afghanistan, the population of the tribal areas of Pakistan aren't tired of Islamic rule and brutality.
Next, Obama, in his great oratory style, proceeds to lambast Guantanamo Bay and the violation of the rights of the "innocent" people held there:
I also will reject a legal framework that does not work. There has been only one conviction at Guantanamo. It was for a guilty plea on material support for terrorism. The sentence was 9 months. There has not been one conviction of a terrorist act. I have faith in America's courts, and I have faith in our JAGs. As President, I will close Guantanamo, reject the Military Commissions Act, and adhere to the Geneva Conventions. Our Constitution and our Uniform Code of Military Justice provide a framework for dealing with the terrorists.
This Administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we demand. I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining our Constitution and our freedom.
Senator Obama, Satan could go into a long harangue on how naive this stance is, but sometimes the facts just make a better argument.
“Abdullah Mehsud blew himself up with a grenade and died when security forces raided his hideout. Three of his accomplices were arrested,” Cheema said. “It appears he did not want to be captured alive,” he added.
Mehsud, 32, became the leader of Pakistani Taliban insurgents based in South Waziristan in 2004, after Pakistani forces launched military operations in the troubled tribal region. He was also accused of links with Al Qaeda.
In October 2004, Islamic militants led by Mehsud pressed their demand for an end to the army moves by kidnapping two Chinese engineers working on a multi-million-dollar hydroelectric dam project in South Waziristan.
One of the hostages died in a botched rescue bid in a major embarrassment for Pakistan, which counts China as its closest ally and biggest military supplier. Mehsud, who spent 25 months in the US-run ‘war on terror’ prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba until his release in March 2004....
Got that Obama? He wasn't innocent. He wasn't a sheep herder. He wasn't a farmer. He was a damned blood thirsty terrorist. Generally, when these people are arrested and sent to Guantanamo, they were found in a military zone, they were armed, they were fighting us, and they weren't in uniform.
On Abu Ghraib
Finally, in today's speech, Obama, in short, says that we damage our national image by engaging in torture.
As the counter-insurgency manual reminds us, we cannot win a war unless we maintain the high ground and keep the people on our side. But because the Administration decided to take the low road, our troops have more enemies. Because the Administration cast aside international norms that reflect American values, we are less able to promote our values. When I am President, America will reject torture without exception. America is the country that stood against that kind of behavior, and we will do so again.
Obviously Senator Obama doesn't know what torture is. We in Hell do and it looks nothing like what went on at Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo. If Mr. Obama wants to know what tortue really is, Libya provides the example. This is the testimony of the Palestinian doctor held by Libya for infecting babies with AIDS:
I was locked into a room with three dogs during the first few days. They ordered the animals to attack me. My leg is covered with scars from their bites. I had a large hole in my knee. I was served my meals in the bowl they used for the dogs. The five Bulgarian nurses were also being kept in this torture building. Every day our tormentors told us: "We will make you suffer until you confess." The torture periods were carried out between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m.. This went on for months.
One of the things they did was to wrap bare wire around my penis. Then they would drag me around a room that was at least 40 by 40 meters. I screamed and cried.
One of the most excruciating things was their electric torture machine -- a manually operated box that works like a generator. They would attach the negative cable to a finger and the positive cable to one of my ears or my genitals. The most painful part of it wasn't the current but the fact that they could change the rate at which it was applied. When I became unconscious they would pour cold water on my naked body and continue the procedure.
Obama, well spoken, but still offers the same old leftist Democrat line that America is wrong, America is to blame, America can buy off its enemies, and we condemn war, except if it is started by us. Hell gives this speech two pitchforks down.
