Apollo 11
Thirty eight years ago, the U.S. landed on the moon. Looking at pictures from this mission, it can make one ponder our past, our present, and our future.

We as a nation we landed on the moon so long ago. We lacked microcomputers, but we had the will. What has happened to our spirit? Our entrepreneurial skills? Our can do attitude?
We went to the moon nearly 40 years ago, but it seems that as a nation, we can't solve even the simplest of problems anymore. We still use gasoline. Surely, we could use the Apollo mission as a template for developing alternative fuels in a short amount of time. From inception to reality, we went to the moon in just over 8 years. Can't we as a nation, develop alternatives to oil in same amount of time?
Or what about our open, undefended southern border? In the 1960s we had the will to go to the moon. How much will does it take to hire more border agents and build some fencing? Will importing millions of people who even lack a high school education help us reach the moon and beyond?

Furthermore, what does Apollo have to say about mankind? On one hand, we have a nation able muster its resources and have the ability to send men to the moon. But look around the globe today. Whereas progress seems endless from the children of the Enlightenment, it seems that the barbarians are knocking on the gates, trying to drag mankind back to the middle ages of ignorance.
Certain religions want to oppress millions of people simply due to their gender or beliefs. Certain societies, while they might use technology, produce little or nothing in terms of innovation and they want to force the rest of the world into their medieval ideal of paradise.
How can one nation that can travel to the moon continue to prosper among nations that still use horse carts for transportation? How can one nation prosper among people who copiously study religious texts, but ignore science and the arts? How can one nation continue to move forward when even the best and the brightest of the east are willing to blow themselves up for the promises of a virginal orgy? At some point, won't those who envy, despise, and covet join against us, just as the barbarian armies attacked the walls of Rome or Constantinople? And how long can we survive such attacks when a great part of our countrymen lack any love of country? Is the U.S. to wither like the Romans or Byzantines?
