Category Image We Told You it Was Coming:  China Surpasses U.S.A. As Biggest Source of Evil Pollution

The People's Perfect Republic of China, as The Virtuous Republic had already noted in April,  surpassed the U.S.A. as the world's largest polluter.  The left, the Gorebal Warming crowd, and the media (I guess I already said left, didn't I?), will not be able to deal with this new reality.  Satan' guess is that they will try to rationalize China's pollution and still make the U.S. look like the source of all evil pollution.

For instance, in the article announcing China's staggering output of pollutants, the rationalizing has already begun:

Jos Olivier, a senior scientist at the government agency who compiled the figures, said: "There will still be some uncertainty about the exact numbers, but this is the best and most up to date estimate available. China relies very heavily on coal and all of the recent trends show their emissions going up very quickly." China's emissions were 2% below those of the US in 2005. Per head of population, China's pollution remains relatively low - about a quarter of that in the US and half that of the UK.

The pollution by population argument is the first attempt at the left's rationalization of China's gross levels of pollution.  Of course this argument is meaningless.  What does it matter if 10 people or 300 million or 1.2 billion produce a certain level of pollution?  It doesn't, because the pollution still exists.

Would you like an argument that does make sense?  China's GDP is 5 times smaller than that of the United States, yet it now pollutes more than America.  Obviously, the U.S., with an economy that is 5 times larger than that of China, yet it produces no more pollution than China, is a more efficient economy and obviously, the U.S. has more stringent pollution controls than China.

From the article above, we even find out that the U.S. cut its carbon dioxide output by 1.4% last year.  And that comes, whether from a sluggish economy or not, from an economy that still was growing.

How will the left deal with the fact that their ideological allies in China pollute like the United States, but with an economy the size of France?

How will the corporate right get past the fact that they are encouraging gross levels of pollution by buying and producing products in China?

Will the Gorebal Warming crowd admit that the U.S. is an efficient economy?

Will the left demand China control its pollution levels?
