Take Two on the New Left's Hypocrisy
Satan was simply taken aback by the Machiavellian's latest commentary in which he gives blowhards like Gore and Edwards the benefit of the doubt. These aren't spoiled rich guys, simply out of touch with the common American. These are leftist elites who have an agenda, which they want applied to great unwashed masses. They in essence want to create the laws, but of course they will not be bound by them. In essence, the hypocritical behavior of the left smacks of the privileges enjoyed by the nomenklatura members of the Soviet Communist Party. The New Left of America, by its policies, intend to recreate the long bread lines of the old Soviet Union, but, they will never stand in them.
First we have John "Haircut" Edwards. He exhibits all of the characteristics of a member of the New Left.

Like any good communist leftist, note how Edwards says that there can't be "any serious" debate on global warming. It is fact. This reminds Satan of the Soviet Union where there was the "party line" and there was the gulag. If we disgree with global warming, you must be crazy. Will those of us how dispute global warming be sent to re-education camps?
Additionally, on global warming, Edwards says that it "requires all of us to take responsibility" and action. So how does Edwards fight global warming? He builds the largest house in his home county. And Satan also wonders how many trees he murdered (using leftist speak of course) in the process? Edwards house reminds Satan of how the elites in the Soviet Union escaped to their dachas while the working class remained housed in the grey, ugly, monolithic apartment buildings.
Also, remember that "this man of the people" recently paid over $400 for a haircut. Guess where it wasn't? It wasn't in his home town, he had to fly all the way to California to get it. Satan is taking a long shot here, but I'm guessing Mr. Edwards didn't ride a bike to get that haircut. So how much did Edwards pollute to get his $400 haircut?
But then, what is a speech given by an apparatchik of the New Left, without some America bashing? Here, Edwards calls the U.S. an "offender", because the U.S., with 4% of the world's population produces 25% of the world's pollution. He wants a national "cap" on carbon emissions. Let Satan translate comrade Edwards stance on global warming for you.
Right off the bat, like, a good little leftist, Edwards is apologizing for America's wealth and success. Yes we pollute more than other nations, but that is because our economy is three times larger than the next largest economy. Notice how he doesn't mention pollution output by nation or region? How much do you think China pollutes? What about the European Union? See, the left is ashamed of America's economic success. This is a result of the Marxist-Leninist philosophy that has permeated the thinking of the left. Success in a capitalist society is evil. To be moral, we must be miserable, just like the people in Third World Countries.
So how does Edwards want to address global warming? By capping our industrial output. Higher gasoline prices. Smaller cars. Higher electricity and gas bills. The results? Fewer jobs and a lower standing of living for most Americans. Why? So that the elites of the left can atone for the sins of a capitalist, a successful capitalist nation. What does that mean for you, if the New Left's global warming plans become reality? It means a lower standard of living, period. Of course, the hyper-rich like Edwards will still be able to afford a $400 haircut, a $2000 a month heating and cooling bill and $6 a gallon gasoline. But, can you? Satan doubts that the middle class can afford the New Left.
Edwards, toward the end of his speech, asks, "What are you going to do?" The better question is, what are you, Mr. Edwards going to do? Are you going to get a local $12 haircut instead of flying to California? Are you going to live in a more modest house? The New Left, just like their communist forbearers, always expect, you, the worker drone, to bear the brunt of their schemes. Collective farming, the great leap forward, a five year plan. Global warming is just the latest social experiment of the left. And it will have the same detrimental results. You in the end will be worse off.
