Former general and Secretary of State, Colin Powell, on Face the Nation, responded to the harsh criticism of Limbaugh and Cheney. (The story is here).

Our view in Hell is quite simply, you can’t be a Republican if you endorsed the Democratic candidate for President.

You can’t be a Republican if the very candidate that you said the Republicans needed, a centrist, milquetoast, middle of the roader gets nominated and you end up supporting a far leftist, neo-communist Democrat.

You can’t be a Republican if you support the Democratic candidate for President, simply because he shares the same skin color.

You really can’t be Republican if you like tax increases.

Yet Colin Powell made that case that he was still a Republican.

You support the most destructive President, the most left leaning President ever…. and you still call yourself a Republican?

Besides Powell’s extremely odd need to label himself a Republican, despite his obvious leanings to the left, one other Republican exemplified what is wrong with middle of the road, Republicans.

One such Republican did seem to take Powell’s side of the fight today, as Former Homeland Security Secretary and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge also joined in the criticism of Limbaugh Sunday.

“I think Rush articulates his point of view in ways that offend very many,” Ridge said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“It’s a matter of language and a matter of how you use words. It does get the base all fired up and he’s got a strong following. But personally, if he would listen to me and I doubt if he would, the notion is express yourselves but let’s respect others opinions and let’s not be divisive.”

Excuse our language, but this is exactly what is wrong with the Republican Party–our elites are a bunch of scaredy cat pussies.  “Let’s not be divisive”?  What the Hell?
So in other words, the same old same old.

Let’s compromise our values to be friends with the left.

Let’s compromise our values as not to offend our allies or our enemies.

Let’s not take a stand, but instead put our finger in the air and see which way the wind is blowing.

Let’s base our values on what is popular at the moment.  And heaven fucking forbid we offend those who don’t share our values and who wouldn’t vote for us in thousand years in the first place.

That is the description of what happened to the Republicans in 2006 and 2008 and it is a recipe for continuing electoral defeat.

You either stand for something or you stand for nothing.  Both Powell and Ridge refuse to stand for anything that might offended or required one to take a moral stand.

Or said in another way, compromise is their moral stand.

Powell and Ridge are the same asshole moderate Republicans who:

  • thought that amnesty for illegals was a good idea
  • thought that the Medicare drug entitlement was a good idea
  • thought the gang of 12 in the Senate was the way to get Bush’s judicial nominees appointed
  • failed to open up drilling in Alaska and off our shores early in the Bush administration
  • failed to develop shale oil
  • passed bloated budget after bloated budget

We in Hell say that we need the advice of these two RINO’s like the United States needs to borrow another red cent.

  1. DADvocate says:

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. If the Republican Party is going to be Democrat lite, it’s nothing. It needs to stand for individual rights, less government spending and come out on the side of freedom on every issue.

  2. exactly. We need to appeal to people that our policies will improve their lives. It ought to be easy, but we haven’t had anyone in charge for awhile who can do that.

Certainly moderates can be persuaded that lower taxes benefit them. That a guarded border benefits them. That shale oil and offshore drilling benefits them versus cap and trade which will increase energy bills.
