You would think, that The New York Times could be just a little proud of their nation that it has the ability to down errant satellites. As an American, it makes me feel better knowing that we have that ability. Hell, it even makes me a little proud to be an American.
But not The New York Times, no sir. It is a bad thing. Why it might be a “shadow” anti-satellite program. Well, no &*#@!
And then, the NYT’s breathlessly writes that the Chinese and the Russians are distressed! If you didn’t hate your own country so much, you’d know that it was a good thing. The Chinese and the Russians are bad. They are our enemies. If they win, we lose. Oh wait, that’s right, you hate your country and a defeat here and an embarrassment there are good things to you.
The New York Times continues to spout China’s official Communist Party line that this action could start a space war.
I reread the article, thinking that the Times would of course have to mention the hypocrisy of the Chinese, since they, just last year, conducted an unannounced anti-satellite test (read our previous story on this Chinese hypocrisy). But no, the Times has to put America in the worst possible light.
The White House and the Pentagon said the hazard posed by the failed National Reconnaissance Office satellite was from its hydrazine fuel. It may be 24 to 48 hours before officials can state with certainty that the fuel tank was punctured and that the hydrazine is no longer a threat.
But Representative Edward J. Markey, a Massachusetts Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, said, “The geopolitical fallout of this intercept could be far greater than any chemical fallout that would have resulted from the wayward satellite.”
Mr. Markey said: “The Bush administration’s decision to use a missile to destroy the satellite based on a questionable ‘safety’ justification poses a great danger of signaling an ‘open season’ for other nations to test weapons for use against our satellites. Russia and China are sure to view this intercept as proof that the United States is already pursuing an arms race in space, and that they need to catch up.”
The Chinese warned Thursday that the United States Navy’s action could threaten security in outer space. Liu Jianchao, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, said at a news conference in Beijing that the United States should promptly share data about the passage of the remaining pieces of the satellite.
“China is continuously following closely the possible harm caused by the U.S. action to outer space security and relevant countries,” Mr. Liu said, according to The Associated Press. Read more from this leftist, unpatriotic, un-American rag.
And once again, the Chinese can kiss our collective American rear end.
Let the Russians and the Chinese, with their third world economies try to conduct a space race with us. If I remember correctly, that went poorly the last time for the Soviet Union.

King George Washington: thank God it didn’t happen that way
As I write this, tomorrow, January 22, is Washington’s birthday. I’m not going to talk all that much about what he did, but about what he didn’t do. And what he did as he didn’t do the most important thing he ever refused to do….
To kiss that rear end is no punishment.
