Cincinnati held its own Tea Party this Sunday, downtown on Fountain Square from 3 to 5 p.m.  It was hosted by Cincinnati Tea Party, and had a number of speakers, including 550 AM’s Brian Thomas and Cincinnati Council member Chris Monzel.

The Square itself was packed, with a large, but very well behaved crowd.  But what else would you expect from conservatives?  There was one lone pro-Obama protester, who keep shouting “Obama.”  Funny how the left can’t let others enjoy their freedom of speech without interrupting them.

In terms of the crowd size, I’d guess between 3,000 and 4,000, but it well could have been the 6,000 the organizers expected.

One thing popped into my mind as I wandered through the crowd, looking at their signs and listening to the speakers.  We, in other words, those of us who work, who are conservative, who want limited government are now in the minority, outnumbered by those who want to depend upon government for their well-being and their elitist enablers.

To turn this country around and to put it right, will require that we spread our message to the other side.  The leftist intelligentsia is a waste of our efforts.  They despise their own country and the only thing we can do with them is to never give them an inch when our core principals are involved.

Conversely, those who are in poverty and have depended on government for their entire lives are where we should focus our energies.  We must simply convince them that their lives will never improve beyond bare subsistence levels if they remain wedded to the Democratic welfare state and big government in general.  We must sell middle class values of family, education, hard work, and self-reliance as the path to success. We must sell free markets as true hope.  Until then, we will remain out of power.

I was hearing that the “official” count was 3500-5000. I’d guess 4000+ or so. Great crowd, high spirits! Now if only we can keep this up and gain some momentum before we lose our country.

    I posted 35 of the
photos of the tea party as well if anyone’s searching for photos.

  2. DADvocate says:

I was there for the first hour, which bring up a point. I’m not sure what was that greatest number of people there at any one point in time but some people, like myself, left early or came late. As I was walking back to my car, I saw people walking towards the rally with signs.

It was a great crowd. I have pictures posted at my blog.

    • Thanks to both RWNJ and Dadvocate for links to the photos of the events. I was about ten minutes late, and there were still tons of people walking towards Fountain Square. I bet Graeters was having one heck of a day with a square of people with jobs! ; )

By the way, I’m going to add both of your blogs to my blogroll and try to visit your sites on a regular basis.

They were. My son and I went in. He love’s Graeters’ malts. It was so crowded, he gave up and we went back outside.

Repeal the 16th (Income Tax) Amendment and all payroll taxes.

It takes Two-Thirds of both Houses of Congress and Three-Fourths of the States to Ratify an Amendment to the Constitution which makes Repealing the Income Tax Amendment an issue that State and Federal Candidates and the Candidate for President can unite under and run on. ©
