Where is our might (awful) press corp? Obama lobbed a softball to them this morning, yet not one major news outlet, that I can find, dared to call the President on his rhetoric to contain spending versus his actions, which do just the opposite.
So let’s get this straight. You, in front of the Dell, stop snickering. President Obama wants to save $40 billion dollars by changing government contracts.
Obama’s answers: dramatically cut the use of no-bid contracts, shrink outsourcing of government operations to private companies and keep a much closer watch. Under fire from Republicans for the sheer size of his own administration’s spending plans, Obama is promising savings of as much as $40 billion each year. Read more….
Yet, Obama helped to pass a $787 billion dollar stimulus package. Was there. Mr. President, no waste in that bill? Should you believe the President’s claim that there wasn’t, read it for yourself here.
Now Obama wants to pass the regular budget bill, which weighs in at $410 billion. This sucker alone has 9000 earmarks in it.
Politico reports that the 1,132-page behemoth contains over 9,000 earmarks covering more than a dozen cabinet agencies. But because it was first negotiated last fall by the House and Senate (under far different economic circumstances, I’d point out), the Obama administration has called it “unfinished business”—just a little $400 billion sideshow we should all ignore. A top White House aide said that Obama would change the “rules” for future spending bills, but only after this bill clears the Senate. We thought the administration believed in cutting back on congressional earmarks, but as Peggy Noonan would say, it’s time to suspend our belief. Read more….
In dollars, that is $7.7 billion in waste that Obama is ignoring.
Of course, then you have Obama’s $75 billion mortgage rescue bill….
And who could forget, Obama’s $600 billion in health care proposals.
Finally, from the above, Obama wants to give Hamas $900 million to rebuild. Hey Obama, there is $900 million in waste right there. Let the anti-America, jihadist Gazans suffer. Let them pay for their decisions. Let them learn from their misery. It isn’t like they could get any more radical.
Now the chattering femme conservative class would call me “anti-intellectual”, but using my inferior mind, Obama plans to spend over $1.872 trillion and he wants to offset that with $40 billion dollars in efficiencies? Say what?
Where is the outrage? Where is the press, doing their job, asking Obama how his math works? Where is the press asking Obama if he thinks Americans really will be fooled into thinking that $40 billion in savings will pay for over $1.8 trillion in increased spending?
America, usually during times of emergencies, has superior men who rise to the occasion. Obama is an empty suit and an intellectual lightweight whose math is even worse than that of George McChimp Bush and his Republican Congress.
Obama’s only reason to announce this program today is to make it look like he is concerned with the massive deficits that he has created in his first month in office. Don’t be fooled.
We are so screwed!
