Basing its article on the its biased and completely wrong CBS/NYTs poll, the fading failing Times argues that Sarah Palin has hurt McCain’s poll numbers. Just remember, almost all of the polls out there show the race at 5% or closer, but the CBS/NYTs poll pegs the race at an 11 point Obama lead.
All told, 59 percent of voters surveyed said Ms. Palin was not prepared for the job, up nine percentage points since the beginning of the month. Nearly a third of voters polled said the vice-presidential selection would be a major factor influencing their vote for president, and those voters broadly favor Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic nominee.
And in a possible indication that the choice of Ms. Palin has hurt Mr. McCain’s image, voters said they had much more confidence in Mr. Obama to pick qualified people for his administration than they did in Mr. McCain. Link
The main thrust of the article revolves around the left’s talking point that Palin isn’t prepared to be VP and the McCain’s judgement comes into question because he appointed such an unprepared and novice running mate.
To start, if the Times wants to talk about experience, let’s start with Obama. Eight years as a state senator and 3 and a half years as federal Senator. And keep in mind that he has been running for president for at least 2 of the years he has been the Senate!
Let’s compare that to Sarah Palin. Six years as Mayor of Wasilla. A year on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, from which she resigned to expose corruption from fellow Republicans, and two years as Governor of Alaska.
Let me make this defense of Sarah Palin.
Obama served on the Annenberg Challenge board, and he willingly worked with a professed Marxist and the leader of the Weather Underground, upon whose orders, several people were killed through bombings around the nation in the early 70s. Obama continued to work with Bill Ayers for over eight years, promoting a radical teaching agenda, because in the end, it furthered his presidential ambitions.
Sarah Palin, was appointed to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in 2003. During her brief tenure, she uncovered unethical and criminal behavior perpetrated by her fellow Republicans (read about Palin’s reformist history here):
The job was a plum patronage position, paying $118,000 a year, doubling her salary as Mayor and for the first time making her the family’s chief breadwinner. The Anchorage Daily News has a lengthy and extensive description of the events that followed, as Palin uncovered significant ethical improprieties at the AOGCC…. Read more….
This was the highest paid job Palin had ever held and she now made more than her husband and she had 4 children to think about…. Yet, she resigned when the Republican establishment refused to deal with the corruption she uncovered.
Obama, conversely, worked with a Marxist and murdering terrorist–willingly–to further his career.
Sarah Palin resigned from a high paying job and put her future career as a Republican politican in jeopardy to expose corruption and in essence to do the right thing.
Obama will do anything, work with anyone, if it benefits him.
Palin on the the other hand is reform minded and is unwilling to work with corrupt individuals. And she is willing to make personal sacrifices to do the right thing.
Obama, though, stayed in a marxist based, racist church for 20 years. He associated with a marxist and terrorist for over 10 years. And only when they no longer served his purpose, did he reluctantly cut ties with them.
In terms of experience, if Palin is to be criticized, then what can we say about Obama who is running for the highest office in the land? Obama, arguably has less practical political experience than Sarah Palin.
Furthermore, where Palin seems to stand on principal, Obama in comparison, seems a sheer oportunist, willing to work with rather shady characters to advance his agenda.
It seems obvious that Palin is the true former. And, the only drag Sarah Palin has on poll numbers is from the Obama column–that being reality in the real world and not the world of the make believe CBS/NYTs presidential poll.

Greetings! It’s been a long time since I commented on this site–it’s a long trip this far to the right, and I couldn’t afford the gas until recently!
Well, if you could give Gramps a lie-detector test, I’m sure he would admit that Caribou Barbie has turned out to be a disaster (sky high negatives, national laughing stock — PalinAsPresident.com, rank hypocrite, corrupt, incompetent, etc.). I told folks back in August that his best choice would be Tom Ridge, who would give you a real shot at a major blue state and appeal to centrist voters which you have to win in a national election. Now that he’s pretty much staked the election on carrying Pennsylvania, the Palin choice to appease the party’s dwindling base will certainly haunt him Tuesday night.
Hope all is well.
