We in Hell know that much of the mainstream media–an extension of the left, despises their country and make every effort to let that hatred be known.
Though We are surprised the VOA published such a piece, it is a perfect example of a typical “America is evil” leftist journalism.
First, the report has to include a statement from the Taliban. What the hell? Did we call Hitler after every skirmish in WWII and ask him for his take on events? The Taliban are our enemies. Remember 9/11? Remember they provided safe haven for al-Qaeda? Hello, they are our enemies, not Big Oil!
Second, why is it that every story from Afghanistan has to include a statement that NATO forces killed “innocent” civilians? For the love of God, did this author check out the credentials of those who claim that civilians were killed? Could the sources be Taliban sympathizers? Did they call the local American commander and get his side of events? Or did they have a non-local stringer confirm these events?
I can give you the answer to all those questions. Hell no. The left just throws the “civilians killed” into every article to undermine the will to fight at home and make our troops look like butchers.
The Voice of America should be ashamed to have published such horrible, unsubstantiated enemy propaganda.
The story:
Afghan officials say up to 70 militants have been killed in a battle with NATO and government forces in eastern Afghanistan, near the Pakistani border.
The governor of Khost Province, Arsallah Jamal, says Afghan and NATO forces mounted a counterattack early Sunday after nearly 100 militants overwhelmed guards at a government center in the Spera district and killed two police officers.
The Afghan governor said troops on the ground called for air support, and heavy machine-gun fire from NATO’s helicopter gunships killed scores of militants. Other insurgents fled toward the Pakistan border, about 15 kilometers away.
Reuters news agency says the Taliban denies any of its fighters was killed.
In another part of Khost, police say a suicide bomber blew himself up Sunday near a road construction crew, killing one person and wounding six.
The U.S.-led coalition also reported that American troops killed several militants in Paktia province on Saturday.
And in southern Helmand province, NATO troops killed four civilians and wounded three others when soldiers shot at a car that failed to stop at a checkpoint Saturday.
The United Nations says nearly 700 Afghan civilians have been killed this year in crossfire between Taliban insurgents and foreign forces.
UPDATE: If the VOA had sourced the death of the civilians, they would have found this:
KABUL, Afghanistan — ISAF soldiers opened fire on a vehicle that failed to stop at a check point earlier today killing four civilian occupants and wounding three others. Two further occupants were unharmed.
The incident occurred in the Sangin district of Helmand Province. The vehicle approached the check point and was directed to stop but it drove on. ISAF soldiers fired warning shots in a safe direction away from the vehicle but were eventually forced to fire at it when it refused to stop, fearing an insurgent attack.
The injured civilians were treated for their injuries by ISAF medical personnel at the scene and were taken to Camp Inkerman for further checks. They were then taken by helicopter to Camp Bastion hospital where they arrived at 0900 hours for further treatment.
The bodies of the four civilians who died were taken back to their village by the two civilians who were uninjured in the incident. Both indicated that the driver of the vehicle was at fault for failing to stop when required to do so.
ISAF deeply regrets this unnecessary incident caused by the reckless actions of the vehicle driver. The incident will be investigated. Link
